Section 80CCD(1B)

Definition

Additional deduction of up to ₹50,000 for contributions to National Pension System (NPS) beyond the 80C limit. Available only under the Old Tax Regime.

In Context

Section 80CCD(1B) is an extra ₹50K deduction over and above the ₹1.5L 80C limit. Combined benefit: ₹2L if you invest ₹1.5L in 80C instruments + ₹50K in NPS. NOT available under New Tax Regime.
